CAD is a chronic, incurable, but manageable inflammatory and pruritic disease of the skin. Medications used to treat allergic skin disease mask clinical signs but do not change the disease process unless allergen-specific immunotherapy is implemented. This article highlights the the importance of a rational diagnostic and multimodal therapeutic plan that provides the best management of this disease.
